Gaggia introduced the Gaggia Baby to the world over 25 years ago.
Since that time it has gone through many variations in appearance and
the latest model is the best yet. The housing is a more refined design
with better overall fit and finish. Such as, the ABS plastic housing
has a glossy finish that looks better and has control buttons that are
much more attractive. The Gaggia Baby has the same new
portafilter handle that the top-of-line Gaggia Classic received with a
professional chromed stainless steel splitter. This upgrade improved
the espresso distribution balance between the two spouts. In essence
this means that the volume dispensed into two separate espresso cups is
less subject to counter tops that are not level. However, you will
still have differences in volume that is mostly caused by air bubbles
created in the extraction process. Our technical support
department states that it is easier to service as well. The internal
parts have stayed the same with the tried and true 55-watt pump (none
stronger in the home machines catagory), dual external heating elements
providing 1370 watts of quick and even heating. What our customers
should know is the Gaggia Baby contains that same features as our best
selling Gaggia Classic with the exception of the stainless steel
housing. If you can live without the stainless steel, then the Gaggia
Baby is at a great price that will save you considerable money but
provide the same performance. I suggest you review the Classic for addition detailed information before you decide on your choice. Includes two stainless steel filter baskets (one and two shot), coffee tamper and 7g measuring scoop.
Features & Benefits: Coffee |

Some
of the most crucial elements for producing high quality espresso are
influenced by the Style, Size and Construction of the portafilter.
Style: This portafilter is designed like a commercial machine and works
in the same way. The coffee is ground fine and is tamped (pressed)
firmly into place. Size: The size of the portafilter is also the same
as a commercial machine. Is has a large diameter (58 mm) so that the
water is distributed evenly over a wide surface area. Construction: The
portafilter is made up of two parts, the handle and the filter holder.
The handle is made of high quality plastic. The heavy chrome plated
brass filter holder keeps the temperature stable throughout the entire
brewing process, therefore producing a quality cup of espresso. |
 |
This
is the portion of the machine that the portafilter locks into. It is
made of chrome plated marine brass which provides a superior brewing
environment through maximum heat stability and component longevity. |
 |
The
Gaggia boiler system is very unique. It is designed of highly
conductive stainless steel with two heating elements. The heating elements are
imbedded into the exterior sides of the boiler, providing even heat
distribution. Having the highest wattage system available, incorporated
into a low volume boiler (3.5 ounces) provides excellent temperature
stability and will heat up quicker. |
 |
The
3-way solenoid valve is a commercial feature that relieves the water
pressure off the coffee when the brew switch is turned off. This serves
two functions; it dries out the coffee to prevent dripping and makes it
easy to knock the coffee out of the portafilter with one knock. |
 |
The
Baby contains three push button switches with indicator lights that
will illuminate when on. The far left is the main power switch that
activates the boiler when turned on. The middle switch is the brew
switch. To start the brewing process just turn on the switch, wait
until you have reached your desired volume and then turn of the switch.
The far right is the steam switch. Just turn this on and the boiler
will heat to steam temperature. The temperature ready light is a
separate indicator that will light up while the boiler is heating up
and will go off when it is ready to steam or brew, depending on which
mode you are in. |
 |
|
 |
 |
If
you want hot water for any reason, be it Hot Chocolate, Tea or
Americanos it is very easy to do. Just turn on the pump (brew) switch
and open the steam knob. Hot water will start to stream out. |
 |
The
Gaggia Baby comes equipped with a newly designed Turbo-Frother frothing
wand. The new design makes great froth every time with no problems. |
 |
|
 |
 |
The
large removable 64oz reservoir can be refilled from the top any time
during the operation, for an endless supply of coffee or steam. |
 |
The
Gaggia has three temperature controls. There are two thermostats and
one high limit. There is one thermostat for maintaining brewing
temperature and one for maintaining steaming temperature. The high
limit will turn off the power to the boiler in the event of a
malfunction. This will prevent the boiler from overheating. |
 |
Comes
ready to use with pods or ground coffee. Use the single shot filter
basket with Easy Serve Espresso (ESE) pods. Pods are single serve
prepackaged shots that are designed to be quick and clean. |
 |
Constructed
of tough thermo-set plastic (nearly a 1/4 inch thick), making this
lighter than the Classic and almost as durable. The Baby is a little
bit taller than other Gaggia machines. It will fit a 4" cup under the
brew group and has a steam wand height of 4 1/4" from the counter. Most
other Gaggia's will fit a 3 1/4" cup and have a 4" high steam wand. |
